Chris Rice plays Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

Sometimes there’s a smile or a nod first, but we most often play music for people … a bit of piano, a bit of cello … before we talk with them. For us, this is like first handing someone a rose, to honor the beautiful music which lives in them (whether or not that “beautiful music” involves instruments and the like). In that spirit … welcome … and … we hope you enjoy Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, by Franz Liszt!

    Dear Chris and Johnny,
Your father and I were good friends in college and in the years that followed. He has shared with me over the years just how talented and wonderful his son’s are. Now I can see for myself. I am overwhelmed by the beauty of the way in which you play. I am certain that Franz Liszt is very proud of the way in which you present his music ( from Heaven, of course.)
I am very near the age of your father and I have always wanted to learn to play the piano. We bought a piano and I started playing about a year and a half ago. I love it. Learning to play the piano gives me an even greater appreciation for your talent. You don’t even use the music. How do you remember all of that? I am amazed! I hope that my husband, Ed, and I will get to meet you both someday very soon. By the way, Ed is definitely Polish. Actually, he is a “thouroghbred.”
He will especially love Chopin’s Ballade #1 and what you wrote about Chopin. I will show it to him shortly. Best wishes. Both of you have a wonderul future ahead of you.
    Sincerely, Kay Lewandowski
